The International Society of Pharmacogenomics (ISP) was established in 2001 as a non-profit society to promote research into Pharmacogenomics:

The influence of the human genome on response to medication. Pharmacogenomics searches for markers of drug response (such as DNA polymorphisms or gene expression changes), related to drug target, drug metabolism, or disease. It uses genomic technologies such as gene expression analysis, molecular genetics and transgenics. It encompasses both clinical response as well as adverse effects and other physiological changes and can be applied to drugs in development as well as those in current use.

Two Scientific Meetings have been organized in Los Angeles (2003) and Santorini (2004), where scientists actively working in Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics contributed to the discussions. Among other Scientific activities, a group of members has been working on a Consensus Article for Education on Pharmacogenetics that it is now ready for publication in The Pharmacogenomics Journal, the Official Journal of the Society, which all Society members receive.

We would like to announce that we are now accepting ISP membership renewals for the 2010 calendar year. Please visit the website at www.pharmacogenomics.org.uk to register for membership. E-mailed confirmation of registration and payment information will follow. A subscription to The Pharmacogenomics Journal for the calendar year of 2010 is included in membership.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Julio Licinio
